Check in time starts at 3:00 PM on Sunday. Our check out time is 10:00 AM on the following Saturday. We ask that you please be respectful of our Check in and Check out times. Please plan on meeting the staff and other guests in the Lodge at 6:15 PM for drinks and snacks prior to dinner at 7:00 PM. Please note that riding and activities are not offered on Saturday or Sunday.
Getting to the Ranch:
If you are flying to the ranch, we recommend flying into Yellowstone Regional Airport (COD) in Cody, WY (52 miles) or Logan International Airport (BIL) in Billings, MT (125 miles). We highly recommend renting a car. We offer transfers from the Cody airport between the hours of 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM for a fee of $200 per vanload, each way. All other flight times are $300 per vanload, each way. We offer transfers from the Billings, MT airport between the hours of 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM for a fee of $300 per vanload, each way. All other flight times are $375 per vanload, each way. We also provide transfers from hotel/lodging establishments for our guests that have spent a few days in Cody prior to their ranch visit. The transfer fees are the same as the Cody airport fees. Please call us to set up a pick up time & location. We do require guests to notify us at least 4 weeks in advance of a transfer for scheduling purposes.
Deposits:
A deposit of 25% is required to confirm a reservation. Many guests wish to make additional deposits or pay in full prior to arrival for convenience. Deposits, less a $100 booking fee, are refundable until 90 days from your reservation. Guests are responsible for the entire period reserved.
Final Payment:
The balance of your reservation is due upon your departure from the ranch. We keep a General Store tab as well as a tab for any town items purchased for all of our guests for the duration of your stay. We accept checks, cash, Traveler’s Checks, VISA and MasterCard as payment. Please note that we charge a 3% service charge for all credit card transactions. Please plan on paying by check if you do not wish to incur the service charge.
Fishing:
We have a great variety of good trout water available to our guests. All fishing is fly fishing and catch/release on ranch property. We have a limited supply of fly-fishing equipment for guests use including rods, waders and boots. A good fly rod and an assortment of both dry and wet flies are advisable. We recommend 3 to 5 weight rods for fishing in our area. Universally good fly choices are: muddler minnows, royal coachman, humpies, woolie worms, grasshopper flies, adams, irresistibles and nymph patterns. We find that red and orange patterns work well on our river during most of the season. Appropriate hook sizes are 10 through 16. We do have a selection of flies for sale in our General store. You can purchase a fishing license online at wgfd.wyo.gov prior to arriving at the ranch. It is possible to do this at the ranch depending on our current internet connection. If you are interested in a fishing float trip off of the ranch, we recommend North Fork Anglers (307-527-7274, www.northforkanglers.com), Eastgate Anglers (307-587-3059, www.eastgateanglers.com), and Wyo Trout Guides (307-578-8217, www.wyomingtroutguides.com). We recommend making reservations in advance.
Liquor:
Alcoholic beverages and mixers need to be purchases before your arrival at the 7D, as we do not have a license to sell liquor at the ranch. We make town runs on Tuesday & Friday each week and we can pick up any additional items you need at those times. We do offer complimentary beer & wine on Sunday evening during our Meet-n-Greet.
Smoking:
Smoking is not allowed in any building on the ranch, in the barn or on horseback. We have “butt buckets” outside of all cabins and buildings.
Pets:
We do not allow guests to bring pets.
Phone Service:
We have NO cell phone coverage at the ranch. We do have a telephone for guest use at the ranch. Please note that there are no phones in our cabins.
While at the ranch, you may give the ranch number (307-587-9885) as a contact number. We will be happy to take messages while you are out enjoying the ranch and surrounding area. In the event of an emergency, we will make every effort to get a message to you as quickly as possible.
Internet:
The Ranch has wireless internet available in and around our Lodge building. Please note that our connection is via satellite and not as fast as you might be used to. We ask that you be courteous to our other guests and not bring laptops into the dining room during meals. We also have a guest computer with internet access for you to check email and print boarding passes.
Mail Service:
We have a mail drop area in the Lodge. You can purchase postcards and stamps in the General Store. The mail will be taken to town at least twice a week. Please note that our mail service may be slower than you are accustom to. Please allow a couple of extra days when sending anything to the ranch.
In the event you would like to send a package or need to receive one, UPS comes to the ranch on a daily basis. Fed-Ex services are only offered twice a week. Our physical address is: 774 County Road Sunlight Road, Cody, WY 82414. Please let us know ahead of time if you will be sending any of your belongings prior to your visit. We will have your packages in your room when you arrive.
Children:
The ranch is a paradise for children! Our children’s program is geared for kid’s ages 3-12 years old and runs from 9:00-12:15 and 1:45-5:00 PM each day and is optional. The kid’s wranglers will have nature orientated activities each day. If children choose not to participate in these activities, then the parents are responsible for the children. We ask that parents drop their children off and pick them up in the Rec. Hall at the designated times. Children must be 6 years old to ride on the trails. The younger children go on rides in the arena, help feed the pigs, play games, arts, crafts and explore the ranch. There is also babysitting available during the children’s program hours for children 0-2 years old at an additional charge ($15.00/hour). There are no babysitting services offered in the evening.
General Store:
The General Store carries some sundries, t-shirts, sweatshirts, caps, gloves, water bottles, fishing flies, postcards, jewelry, and some gift items. We also carry soda, candy bars & ice cream sandwiches. In the event that you have forgotten something, we do make town runs two times during the week and we would be happy to pick something up for you.
Cowboy Boots & Hats:
It is highly recommended that you wear cowboy boots when riding. We have a collection of “loaner” boots in a variety of sizes. If you are not able to ride in cowboy boots, we suggest a smooth sole shoe with a heel. We suggest wearing a hat while participating in any outdoor activity in the mountains. The sun can be intense at our elevation. We require stampede strings or hat strings on all hats that are worn while riding. If you do not have a string on your hat, we will provide one. We do sell horsehair stampede strings in our General Store for cowboy hats.
Elevation:
The ranch is at 7000 feet in elevation. We do gain in elevation on many of our trail rides and hikes. It is extremely important for guests coming from lower elevations to drink plenty of water. Lack of proper hydration can lead to headaches, nausea and exhaustion. We also tend to feel the affects of the sun quicker. We suggest using sunscreen whenever you are participating in activities outdoors. Sunscreen may need to be applied several times during the day.
River Rafting:
Some guests are interested in going rafting on the Shoshone River in Cody. River rafting in Cody is mostly a float trip and not a “white water experience.” There are 3 companies that offer river trips: Red Canyon River Trips (307-587-6988, www.codywyomingadventures.com), River Runners (307-527-7238, www.riverrunnersofwyoming.com), Wyoming River Trips (307-
587-6661, www.wyomingrivertrips.com). We recommend making reservations in advance.
Weather:
We offer a variety of outdoor activities at the ranch. Wyoming weather can change very quickly. There are occasions when rain and/or lightning will delay or cancel an activity. In the event of activities being cancelled, we will have board games and cards available in the Lodge and Rec. Hall. The kid’s counselors have arts & crafts supplies for children as well. The Ranch’s weather is not the same as Cody. We are typically 10-15 degrees cooler than temperatures in Cody.
